Discovery Travel was established in 1996 and was one of the first operators to offer self-guided walking packages in the UK. The company quickly developed a reputation for offering a personal service and an adaptability to customers’ needs – an ethos that remains to this day and keeps customers coming back year after year.
After two decades at the helm, company founder Alan Robertshaw decided that fresh ownership was required to keep Discovery Travel moving forward. Husband and wife team Will and Pam Ainslie took over in 2016 and are now ably assisted by their two adult children, plus a range of experienced freelance operators. Happily, Alan also agreed to stay on with the company in a consultancy capacity and continues to share his knowledge to this day. 
Will’s background in sustainable travel, tourism and event management has equipped him with the skills and knowledge to organise high quality walking holiday experiences. Pamela’s roles as a senior PA and business administrator provide the underpinning for a smooth operation. Both share a love of exploring the UK’s beautiful landscapes and taking the opportunity to meet Discovery Travel’s customers and accommodation providers.
