Dales Way

Wharfedale, the southern Pennines and into the Lake District

Highlights

  • The picturesque Bolton Abbey estate
  • Stunning Yorkshire Dales scenery
  • The magnificent Ribblehead viaduct surrounded by the Yorkshire Three Peaks
  • Charming towns and villages including Grassington, Dent and Sedbergh
  • Windermere - the largest of the Lakes within the Lake District

Enjoy the variety of the beautiful Wharfe and Dee valleys, the fells of the southern Pennines and the shores of Lake Windermere, all in one walk.

The Dales Way gently ascends the beautiful Wharfedale valley, before climbing higher and crossing the Pennines into Dentdale. After Sedbergh, the route skirts around the Howgill Fells, arriving in the Lake District as a grand finale. The route is dotted with lovely villages, traditional pubs and cosy tea rooms.

This is a fantastic walk that embraces some of the finest scenery the north of England has to offer, straddling a number of distinct areas of countryside in a walking holiday that can be completed within a week or elongated for those wishing to stroll at a more leisurely pace.
