Coast to Coast (Wainwright’s)
Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors
Highlights
Devised by the famous hillwalker and guidebook author Alfred Wainwright in the 1970s, the Coast to Coast (Wainwright’s) has attracted world renown and welcomes walkers from all over the globe.
This classic coast to coast walk passes through three national parks as it makes its way from west to east. Each section of the route offers spectacular and contrasting scenery: the Lake District with its steep-sided valleys, fabulous vistas and glistening lakes; the classic limestone country of the Yorkshire Dales, dotted with farms and dry-stone walls; and the heather-clad moors of North Yorkshire. All this culminates in the trail’s arrival at the North Sea and the pretty seaside town of Robin Hood’s Bay.
Along the route are many places of interest including ancient castles, medieval abbeys and picturesque villages as well as the outstanding scenery of some of the UK’s finest national parks and trails.

Been on the Coast to Coast and West Highland Way numerous times with Discovery Travel. Accommodations arranged have always been exceptional, luggage transfers faultless and guide book and maps sent to you are essential. Love the way I can walk self-guided, but not have to worry about any of the logistics.
