Lakeland Round

The Lakeland Round is a week-long circular walking tour of England’s Lake District takes in some of the finest scenery the area has to offer and accesses parts of the national park that many visitors never reach. 

Discovery Travel’s Lakeland Round was devised to provide a great way to take in some of the Lake District’s most iconic landscapes, while also offering some challenging hiking away from the area’s busier trails.

In the space of a week you will take in the fabulous scenery of Coniston Water, Langdale, Grasmere, Borrowdale, Derwent Water, Crummock Water, Buttermere and Wast Water.  Some sections follow well-trodden paths and overlap with the Cumbria Way and Coast to Coast trails, while others involve less well defined routes using old pack trails over rugged terrain that may well require good map reading and navigation skills. The manageable daily distances mean that more challenging terrain can be taken at a comfortable pace.

You’ll ascend the well-known peaks of High Spy, Maiden Moor and Catbells; skirt past the summits of Hay Stacks and Scafell Pike; and negotiate the remote and rugged valleys of Black Sail and Gasgale Gill. The end of your trip will include sweeping views of Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea, a suitable end to a trip full of wonderful vistas.
