Land’s End to John O’Groats is no ordinary walking holiday. In UK terms, this is the mother of all hikes, an iconic trek between the two furthest points on the British mainland, from Land’s End in Cornwall to Duncansby Head in Caithness.

Discovery Travel is the UK’s only provider of this self-guided Land’s End to John O’Groats walk. Originally designed at the request for some of our regular customers, we have been offering it for more than a decade and it has been enjoyed by numerous intrepid hikers. Some have even done it more than once!

The trail covers fantastically varied terrain and scenery, following footpaths, bridleways and country lanes. Our chosen route includes many iconic National Trails and recreational footpaths, including the South West Coast Path, Cotswold Way, Severn Way, Staffordshire Way, Limestone Way, Pennine Way, St. Cuthbert’s Way, Southern Upland Way, West Highland Way and Great Glen Way. In places you’ll be walking on well-trodden paths and meeting numerous other hikers sharing sections of the route with you, at other times you’ll very much have the trail to yourself as you explore more off the beaten track areas of the English and Scottish countryside.

We are offering the route as a complete walk of 81 days, but can just as easily develop a longer or shorter itinerary that suits you. Some people prefer to break the walk into shorter chunks, so that they can enjoy the experience over months or even years. Building in some rest days during the hike is recommended, if nothing else so as to provide an opportunity for recuperation from any unforeseen ailments!

This is a once in a lifetime walk and Discovery Travel is here to make it a truly memorable one for you.

We were kept informed about the holiday details, provided with all required information and always knew he was available during the walk if there was a problem. When late accommodation changes had to be made Will sorted everything out before letting us know, so it wasn't a drama for us. quoteThis was a fantastic experience for me and has gone a long way to fulfilling my goal of walking from John O'Groats to Land's End. Baggage transfer was superb and my luggage was always waiting for me when I arrived at each destination. Accommodation was by and large excellent. The hosts were always friendly and supportive and so I had no trouble getting washing done, getting clothes dry or being fed breakfast, evening meal (where needed) and packed lunch. The care and selection of B&B's was a great service by Discovery Travel. Mark Leggott. John O'Groats to Kirk Yetholm
