Northumberland Coast Path walking holidays
The unspoilt coastal scenery of Northumberland
Highlights
The Northumberland Coast Path offers wonderful coastal walking with sandy beaches, rocky headlands, dramatic castles and attractive coastal villages.
The Northumberland coast is best known for its wide, sweeping beaches and dark whinstone outcrops, and offers some of the finest coastal walking in the UK.
This is an area steeped in history, including that of Viking invasions and settlement, medieval castles and saintly endeavours. Along the route you will find a host of conservation sites, including two National Nature Reserves, testimony to the great variety of wildlife that makes this area home and the tranquillity that can be found in this unspoilt corner of England.
With the wonderful scenery and the attractive coastal villages, the Northumberland Coast Path offers a constantly changing landscape which is a pleasure to explore. For those wishing to add an extra excursion to their trip, there is the opportunity to include the tidal Holy Island in their itinerary, an important place of early Christianity in England and site of Lindisfarne Priory.
